Social Innovation Venture…
In the current semester, in the “Dare to Challenge Project’’ with our professor Ms Betty Tsakarestou we were asked to create a project about something we really care about and we want to invenst in it.
As “The Equalizers” we are a non-profit organisation whose main attention is providing to the society green innovative ideas and fighting the climate change. The main ideas of our organisation are 100% green and they do not require any financial help from the members who want to participate in our cause. The main profits that will keep the event alive may come from collaborations with other green and cycling organisations who have already a huge impact on the society such as the association of center bicycle associations in Athens and many bicycle gear shops who can advertise their businesses with such events.
We are planning a revolutionary project of reducing the gas pollution that is caused from the vehicles into the air by promoting the use of bicycles. The name of our project is “The call project” and we are calling the society to use more bicycles in their everyday transportation. Bicycling activity in Greece is in very low levels and people need to put the cycling into bigger levels of their everyday life.
Our main mission is to recruit young people to our project who love the environment and they would do everything to fight the climate change and of course save the air from the gas pollution. We would like to have people in our group who will be 100% focused on the mission and they will be available to help us expend the project all around Greece and why not the Globe. The procedure about the recruitment of the group members of our team will be from internet interviews at first and later the formation of a leading team who will manage the bike tours.
Everyone who wants to participate can post an instagram or a Facebook story and add the hashtag #thecall. Social Media influencers, professional bikers, athletes,activists and enviromental lovers who may share this project with their followers and fans will help us attract more anf more people to our project. With this post they will earn a special invitation to a bike tour session with other people who did the same procedure on the social media. A tour can happen once a week ,with people who are doing the procedure frequently, in order to promote this green solution for the enviroment. In the weekly event some prizes may also given to the participants.
As a non profit organisation the main profits that will keep the event alive may come from collaborations with other green and cycling organisations who have already a huge impact on the society such as the association of center bicycle associations in Athens and many bicycle gear shops who can advertise their businesses with such events. By getting more and more recognition, the project may also happen in other cities in Greece such as Thessaloniki, Patra and Crete and then move all around Greece. Also, with the use of social media, collaborations with other international cycling organisations can promote the event in other countries in Europe or in even more continents.
